Mark's Birthday

Last week Mark and I celebrated our birthdays, mine is August 18 and his is on the 20th which makes for a nice long celebration.

I like giving gifts and feel like I'm pretty good at it, finding that thing that is going to bring a smile and warm fuzzy feeling to the receiver, except when it comes to Mark! he is practical and brainy and seriously prefers a good hug than any other token I have been able to come up with so far, however, he really appreciates my creativity and the cards I make for him, the silly drawings I come up with give him the warm fuzzy feeling I aim for when giving a gift. This year I had just finished an introductory class in Adobe Illustrator and came up with this koala card, he loves it!

I still have a long way to mastering Illustrator, but I am excited about the possibilities of a new creative tool in my belt.

New Life, Adventure Calls!

I keep calling my self a fashion and jewelry designer but the truth is that I have not done much of it for the past 2 years and a half.

For a long time I wanted to get involve with more social projects and one day it randomly came to me, it had very little to do with my background, but I cared about it's mission of empowering women and helping to built a sustainable business that will support the community where it is located, and that made me the right fit at the time.

Now, almost as randomly I find myself living in Nashville, TN (I am originally from Mexico).   I had been in a long distance relationship for about 4 years, and last November while I was visiting him we decided to elope!!  If you know me, you probably saw it coming.

I kept working remotely with The Lavender Project but I could not do much where I am living, until I got my papers straight.  Last week my working permit and my resident card arrived in the mail, which means that now I really live here, and as I am faced with actually belonging to this community I am feeling awfully confused.

Flower Power Shoes

I found this adorable oxfords on Etsy, they are made in Mexico by hand and you can choose every detail. Very exciting! shoes in Mexico are very well made and of great quality.

Chocolate

Some things never grow old and that is the case of chocolate Abuelita! After spending some time away from home finding something so Mexican makes my heart happy. The other thing that helps me feel at home wherever I go is the sound of church, or church like, bells, since in Mexico they ring constantly through out the day.

Beach House Concert

My sister and I love this band, they were in Mexico city last year and we got tickets as soon as they came out which was a couple of months before the actual show. My sister got them and kept them in a drawer. The week of the concert arrived and we struggled fitting it with our work schedules. She lives 4 hours north form Mexico city and I live 45 minutes north from her and work 45 minutes north from where I live. We had a long day traveling. We arrived in Mexico city during rush hour and had to drop our bags before heading to the concert, we were getting stressed and finally pulled the tickets out to check the time it started. My sister read the ticket and her eyes got wide and she started tearing up a little bit and could not talk to me, when she finally did it was to announce that the concert had been a day before and that we didn't have to rush anymore... she had checked the LastFM page for the event earlier on the week and they had the date wrong. Her heart broke a little bit and I am not sure it has healed.

I got tickets for their show in Nashville, TN from my man This year as my birthday present. It was great, they sound even better life and the venue was pretty cool; Marathon Works Music previously a car repair shop, I think. I took some photos and got a t-shirt for my sister, she will see them soon at some festival in Mexico.

New on Copius

I posted these 2 rings from Pylones to my Copius account. They were a christmas gift from an old boyfriend whit whom I am still very good friends with so I still have some attachment to them but never ware them, never really worn them, I would put them on and take them of before going out... don't know why. I have tried and tried to rock them and it just doesn't happen, it seem unfair to keep them in a box!

French Hen

I love my new JCrew iPhone case. There is a sweater with the French Hen too but I am trying to stay away from clothing that make me look younger than I already do. If you can pull it of, please do!
